Welcome and Introduction to The Games
![]() |
A warm welcome to you from the Robert Dover's Games Society.
Nearly four centuries ago, a visionary named Robert Dover revived the spirit of Ancient Greece, on the Hill above Chipping Campden, and in spite of an interregnum and a couple of imitators we are still the oldest Olimpick Society in the world.
This coming year, 2009, our Games will be celebrated on Friday 29th May, and on behalf of the Society, may I invite each and every one of you to join us for an evening of sport and entertainment - both ancient and modern.
In this way, we can all show our support for the true Olympic ideals, ethics and values of sporting excellence, friendship and fraternity, and begin the build up to 2012.
We may not be the largest Olympic Games, but we are the most accessible - and certainly the most friendly and enjoyable. So once again, please join us!
