Once again we invite you all, particularly the young, to participate in this unique weekend event.
Whilst there have been changes over the years, the sportsmanship, the fair play and the sheer enjoyment of these games is still closely linked to those established by Robert Dover back in 1612. It's a great spectacle and of course we want everyone to have a wonderful evening, but the real thrill is to take part and Dick Smith, Chairman of the Scuttlebrook Wake committee, and I are hoping to make this a record year for participants.
Starting at 6.15 pm. on the Friday we have the races in the High Street finishing with the Wheelbarrow Marathon. From 7.30 pm. the many events on The Hill that you can read about on this website. Climb the 'Unclimbable Ladder', compete for the Championship or Champion of the Hill, there are many Trophies and Medals to be won. Enjoy all of the fun of the fair, the bonfire and of course the torchlight procession down to the Square for dancing with the 'Copy Cats'. The following day will see the Fancy Dress Parade, the crowning of the new Queen and the fairground.
To enter or get more information for Scuttlebrook call Dick Smith - 01386 840884 and for Dover's Hill call Jane King - 01386 840453.
