The modern Olympic movement has its historic roots in "Robert Dover's Olimpick Games". Last year we celebrated the 400th anniversary of what are now often called the Cotswold Olimpicks and this year we shall be continuing with the annual tradition with our dedicated team of volunteers who will organise a fun packed family day of races, games, music and entertainment - in addition to the traditional Games themselves which include the world famous shin-kicking contest!

 

Awards

The pleasure we bring to the thousands of families; both adults and children is reward in itself to the team and supporters but last year's recognition by the Oldies and Cotswold Tourism  where Robert Dover's Cotswold Olimpick Games won significant awards as contributors to travel in the UK (The Oldies Award) and also tourism in our area (The Cotswold's Gold Torism Award). We are delighted to once again provide entertainments in 2013. 

Programme

The Games will Starting at 7.00pm, and with children in mind, the Robert Dover's Games programme this year includes fairground acitivities at the top of the hill plus a variety of entertainments before the Games start with Robert Dover arriving on horseback to the castle in the lower arena. During the evening there are sporting and fun events folloed by a torch procession with marching bands and a live band in the town square.  

Admission

Entrance this year will be by wristband only so you can come and go all day as you wish.

 

Prices

Prices will be £4 per adult, £2 for children (5 to 14 - under 5's free) and can be purchased on the day.

 

Parking & Buses 

You can walk from the town up to the Games. But if this is not for you, buses will run from 2pm to 9pm to take you from the Town Square and back again for the small charge of £1 for adults and 50p for children (5-14) return.

Directions from the surrounding towns can be found here and maps are provided to help you find us on the day. We may not be the largest Olympic Games, but we are the most accessible - and certainly the most friendly and enjoyable. Please join us for our 401st Anniversary!
